Little Salkeld Viaduct, Cumbria

Specialist UK Restorations were appointed by AMCO Rail on behalf of Network Rail to undertake masonry refurbishment works to the Grade II listed Little Salkeld Viaduct (also known as Dodds Mill Viaduct) in the Eden district of Cumbria.

As part of Network Rail’s asset management investment strategy, the works involved brickwork enhancement and re-casing to all seven arches, including repointing, crack stitching, and joint repairs in accordance with Network Rail Standard Design Drawings.

The project required meticulous planning to align with staged scaffold access to individual arches, ensuring all works were completed safely, efficiently, and to programme, restoring the viaduct’s structural integrity and historic character.
